Tarots, Astrological Signs, and Predictive Powers
I’ve taken it on myself to explore some interesting topics that I don’t really pay too much attention to when I’m out and about. Sure I’ve heard of tarot reading and astrology; those things that are so mysterious and what not. However, I’ve never really payed attention to them or those businesses that advertise the readings. I live in San Francisco and I’ve seen a couple of those places. I’ve always read about them in books and seen some sets in the movies, but I’ve never really experienced it in real life. That’s why I’ve taken it upon myself to explore this realm. If it’s so mystical and believed to have spiritual powers, I want to see how it evolved.
The Major Arcana (greater secrets) deck contains 22 cards without suits; among them: The Fool, The Magician, The High Priestess, The Empress, The Emperor, The Hierophant, The Lovers, The Chariot, Strength, The Hermit, Wheel of Fortune, Justice, The Hanged Man, Death, Temperance, The Devil, The Tower, The Star, The Moon, The Sun,Judgement, and The World.
Each of the cards has a symbolic meaning that has evolved over the years. The Major Arcana deck is usually used to determine where a person is in their life journey and if they have strayed from their path. In performing a tarot reading, the deck is shuffled and the leader lays out cards in a certain pattern, also known as a “spread”. The cards are turned over, usually one at a time and interpreted. The most common interpretations involved desires, thoughts, the past, and the present. Each position of every card is matched with an interpretation.

Let’s move on to astrology. If you don’t know what it is, it’s a group of beliefs and traditions that are known from the postitions of celestial bodies. It is related to the interpretation of the stars. In a way, it is related to divination, because it is used to give advice and tell the future, past, and present. Many cultures used astrology, among them the Indians, Chinese, Greeks, and Egyptians. Nowadays, you can read your horoscope anywhere. I find it so hard to find an answer when they are all over the plac and they say so many different things. Most of them are vague and the human experience is so common that most of us can find a connection within the reading. I look at my horoscope once in a while, but usually only when prompted on places like Myspace. It can’t hurt to look now can it? I don’t know what you all believe about this stuff, but I say hey it’s just another look at life. Don’t let it rule your life, but let it be a guide, because more often than not, it’s a vague set of morals and the like. Very much like a fortune cookie, and I do love those things so!
