Flock

Have you been using Mozilla Firefox? Are you waiting for the Firefox 3 release? I know I am. However, you should all check out a browser called Flock, which is powered by Mozilla. Maybe that’s why the layout is exactly the same as all the Mozilla-ware that I’ve come across. I downloaded the new version Flock 1.2 and gave it a shot. I’m impressed. Not only does it perform, it also gives you exactly what it’s advertised to do: connection to multiple social networks. When I first opened Flock up I gave a little shout of “oh man!” because it looked really complicated. After I fiddled with it, everything became second nature. In the grand scheme of things, Flock may be my next favorite browser because of the social connectedness. It has the ability to integrate with media, video, music, news, RSS feeds, blogs, and social sites like facebook. I put my Picasa, Facebook, Digg, and Twitter accounts on it and it went great! I like browsing and then having the ability to switch over and update my status and check out other people’s statuses. It also makes it easy for me to blog and update right where I surf, instead of having to go through a totally different program. Some cool features of Flock that I found extremely useful was the media streams, which allows you to look at media from all your different social networks. You can chose whether you want to browse through your favorite photo storage site or your Facebook. Users are also able to look at their friend’s pictures and media. This is definitely a wonderful tool, a great buddy to Firefox. They have the same features, but Flock allows more social interactions. I’m going to use both of them for now. We’ll see what other cool features Flock has to offer in the future. For now, just mess around with it. Who knows? Maybe you’ll love it just as much as I do.
