Synergy

Here I am, on WordPress, writing this blog. What am I doing now? I’m listening to holiday music, like “Last Christmas” by various artists and messing around with Synergy. For those of you who don’t know what synergy is, it is a keyboard and mouse switcher. It allows me to use one mouse and keyboard with as many computers as I want, regardless of the operating system. All you have to do is install Synergy on all of the computers or laptops that you want to use synergy on. After installing them, it is a simple matter of configuring the server and client computer. In my little setup, I’m using my HP laptop, which is hooked up to an external monitor for a dual screen as the server. My older yet still functional Gateway PC that runs on Windows ME is the client. Without any cords or physical switchers, I am able to use the keyboard on my laptop and the mouse attached on my laptop to control my outdated PC. I set it so that I press a hotkey and I can switch back and forth between the two computers. It saves money, time, and strain and it’s easy to use. If you need a setup like mine, then have a good look at synergy. There are also a couple of other programs out there like Multiplicity but I haven’t tried any of those. However, I definitely recommend Synergy.
