Let’s Talk Video: How To Watch Free Online

I love internet video. Let the record show that I’m an internet video whore. Don’t get me wrong, I watch a lot of DVDs and TV shows when they air, but as of now, I don’t have cable. I’m waiting for it to get installed again so that I can catch some of my favorite shows. I can’t believe I’m missing out on SyFy’s Eureka. It’s a kickass show. How am I keeping up with my shows without cable? Don’t worry. The Internet is ripe with ways to get some streaming TV shows. Don’t believe me? Just head over to Google and type in “Where to watch videos online for free”. Here we go:

1) Veoh: An all-around great place to find your TV Shows, movies, and much more. Tons of TV shows are listed. All you need to do is search for your favorite show, cross your fingers, and hope that they have some content. If they’re not listed, try taking a look at some of the other sites listed below in order to located user-submitted videos on Veoh. It’s pretty popular! If you sign up for an account and download their web player, you can download full episodes to your computer for later viewing.

2) Hulu: I love this video site. Hulu is the best place to go. They’ve got most of the popular content hosted on their site. They’re getting more and more social as well. Make sure you get an account with them so you can add TV shows as they are posted into your queue. If you subscribe to the TV shows, they’ll be automatically added to your queue so you can view them whenever you have time. The good news? High quality video with commercials. Great interface and awesome content. New TV shows that have just aired are usually on Hulu either the day after or a couple of days after. You won’t miss a thing on TV! I’ve been watching videos on Hulu ever since they started out and I visit it every single day. Don’t judge! They even have some software for your desktop: Hulu desktop. Bad news: It’s only available for the US. At least that’s what I hear. I recommend it all the way.

3) Megavideo: A great source for movies and TV shows that you’ve missed. Brought to you by the same people who brought you Megaupload, Megavideo is an invaluable resource for catching up with your latest shows. The con? If you are not a premium paying member, you are restricted in viewing videos. You are only allowed 72 minutes of free viewing and then you have to wait an hour. If you have other members in your family who watch Megavideo, those hours count too. 72 minutes is about 1 standard episode of your favorite TV show and then another half of another episode. You’re not going to have a TV show marathon with Megavideo unless you pay. Other than that, a great site.

4) Surfthechannel: That’s right. It’s time to Surf The Channel and find your favorite TV shows. Surfthechannel doesn’t actually host videos or content, but instead they’re more of a search engine for videos on the web. You’ll pretty much find all of your videos here. Search for it and Surfthechannel will tell you where there are videos hosted. All you need to do is click a provider and go watch it. When Hulu doesn’t have it and I’ve used up all of my Megavideo time, I turn to Surfthechannel to help me find the videos I need.

5) Sidereel: It’s another search engine, very much like the above mentioned Surfthechannel. When all else fails, turn to either Surfthechannel or Sidereel because you’ll surely find it. Not much I have to say about it. Clean interface, lots of cool content, Sidereel TV schedule, and articles. Go visit even if you’re not going to watch anything there. It’s pretty awesome.

6) TVshack.net: Another search engine for Internet videos that you need. Great selection. All that you need to do is search up your show. Cool thing about this one? Just pick the source and It’ll play on the TVshack site. You don’t need to click and go to another hosting site.

7) Fancast: If you need another site to find TVs and movies, check out Comcast’s Fancast website. Pretty self-explanatory.

Print8 ) Tudou and Youku: Chinese sites that have tons of content. However, I wish you luck trying to find content on your own and navigating the site. I don’t know how they name their content, but there is a lot that you can’t find just by searching their site. Your best bet is to find one of the search engines up above and let them bring you to these sites.

9) Neuros.tv: This site is another search site. There is nothing actually hosted on Neuros.tv, but it’s another great resource. Most of the videos are from Hulu, but it’s worth taking a look at. Neuros.tv is brought to you by the producers of the Neuros link system. It’s a system that connects to your television and allows you to stream media to it. It’s pretty awesome. I was looking into buying one of them, but I ended up not getting it. Check it out!

11) Divxcrawler: This is a different kind of site. It’s more like place to download Divx movies. Divx is a pretty awesome format for watching videos. Have at it.

12) 66Stage: Same thing. Free movies to download in a Divx format.

logo_464513) Vureel: It’s pretty much a place for HD videos. Don’t miss it.

vureel14) CBS, ABC, and NBC: This is the perfect place to go if you’re trying to catch up with some episodes. Most of the time, the episodes will be posted pretty soon after they air. Enjoy!
