I’m sure most of you are familiar with networks like Stumbleupon and Delicious. I started with Delicious about a year back, importing all of my bookmarks from Firefox into it so that I could transfer them between browsers. Conveniently, Xmarks (formerly Foxmarks) is an excellent add-on that now allows me to save any changes in my bookmarks in two directions, in both Flock and Firefox. Just last night, I updated all the tags on my bookmarks in Delicious and signed up for Stumbleupon. I’ve had one of my articles Stumbled On, so I thought I might check it out. Don’t know anything about Stumbleupon or Delicious? here is just a brief blurb.

1) Delicious: A very popular social bookmarking tool. It gives you the ability to import and export your bookmarks, put tags on them, categorize them, and share them with the world. Keep in mind that it is a social tool, so others can see all the bookmarks you are sharing. Delicious gives you a numeric count of the number of times it has been bookmarks by Delicious users. People can even add you to their network. Excellent tool. If you need your bookmarks from another computer, this is the way to do it.

2) StumbleUpon: A great social discovery engine. If you haven’t checked it out yet, this is another must visit site. Everybody is on it, so why aren’t you? In essence it’s a website and article rating and review site. Download the Stumbleupon toolbar for your browser and rate the site you’re currently visiting. You can write reviews, make friends, and see how similar your tastes are to fellow Stumblers. If you’re up for it, all you have to do is click the “Stumble” button and you’ll be brought to another random site, based on your preferences. Tell the engine if you like it or not and the sites will get better and better from there. A great way to discover the web. Join me!
