UnHub

Here’s something you don’t see every day. It’s another post on an awesome resource, tool, social network aggregator, whatever you want to call it. Just know that it works wonders. I just found out about it today, but it’s a pretty unique concept, so I’ll share it with you. I’ve done a lot of posts lately on information overload, discussing how prevalent our addiction is to social networking, real-time feeds, and interconnectedness. Virtually everyone has at least one of the following: a Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Digg, Stumbleupon, or Delicious. I’m not discriminating here, just rattling off the top networks and tools that come to mind.

Tools that aggregate all your social networks like FriendFeed are helpful, to a certain extent. If you’re not into FriendFeed, here’s a little bit about it: you can connect tons of social networks and export all types of feeds. In essence, FriendFeed is a Lifestream. I’ve talked about Lifestreams quite a bit. A lifestream is like a feed of all your activities on the Internet. Anyway, these tools are extremely helpful if you want to have a single profile for your actions. Another great resource is Retaggr: your virtual profile card that connects all of your networks.

UnHub: Looking for a place to show off all your profiles? UnHub is the single way to go. With UnHub’s Profile Bar, you can direct people to all your profiles, blogs, channels, and other lifestreams. All you have to do is share one single URL. Another interesting service that UnHub offers is the Personal Link Shortener, which helps you turn long URLs into short ones and allows you to share links with others online. Your links include a bar with a link to your profile, so people can see who shared the link even if it gets passed down a chain. Awesome or what? Looking forward to this service evolving some more as it catches on. For now I can only give props to the creators.
