For You Savvy Designers: More Icon Resources

That’s right. If you’re new to this blog, don’t forget to check out these previous posts with links to more freebies! Let me direct you to the correct post. If you’re looking for some free icons, don’t forget to check out this post titled Free Design Tools: Icons. If you’re more interested in places to get some great free vector graphics, this would be the post for you. This post is a continuation of great sites where you can find high quality and unique icons. Whether you’re looking for .png files for a design, images for your blog, or icons to replace and customize your system icons, you’ll find them here. Let’s get started.

iconspedia

1) Iconspedia: Let’s have a look at their little tag phrase: Your Source of Free Icons. Doesn’t that just say it all? I’ve seen icons that I might use, icons that I’ll definitely use, spectacular icons, and then FANTABULOUS icons. Iconspedia only has icons in the top-notch category and nothing else. Feel free to do a little bit of browsing because you’ll never know what you’ll find here. If you’re looking for something in particular, make sure you take advantage of the search option. Or you can browse by category. I recommend that latter, because that way you won’t miss anything. Don’t forget to submit yours: it makes our world better. Here are some cool icons I found on Iconspedia.

2) Icons-Search: It’s an icon search engine that helps you get what you’re looking for. When you first visit, it may not look like much, but trust me. Put in a search term like “social” and you’ll get tons of hits. The icons offered are found in a variety of sizes, so don’t worry about having to scale up. Just in case you don’t trust the search, you can search by categories. Good luck with the icons.

3) IconArchive: You’re looking for icons right? If you are, this is probably one of those one-stop kind of things. With a vast database, IconArchive has it all. Whether you’re looking for abstract icons, holiday icons, love icons, or food icons, you’ll find it here. With a search that’ll give you results, you probably won’t need to search the categories. I like to go through anyway and check out new icons that I could use for future projects. With over 23,800+ free icons, how can you go wrong?

Here are a couple examples of the offerings from IconArchive. Again, if you design icons, make them available to everyone! We’d love you for it.
