Hmmm, Magic Mushrooms
Another post about a Treehugger article. I’ve written about the miracles of marijuana once before and now here is a post about something a little bit different. It’s about magic mushrooms! There is a psychoactive drug called psilocybin that is found in sacred mushrooms, a.k.a magic mushrooms that could have benefits for cancer patients. Doctors at the behavioral pharmacology studies at John Hopkins University are looking for volunteers who have a current or past diagnosis for cancer so that they can participate in studies. It is possible that there are benefits from these mushrooms. In this day and age of advanced medicines and technological innovation, it is possible that the cure or treatment for cancer is becoming a reality. Maybe in the near future there will be a solution to cancer and possibly even AIDS. Then we would really be getting along in the world. The theory behind this treatment is that if a person can deal with their emotional and mental fears or worries, it allows them to better fight the disease. I guess this is similar in concept to stress and sickness. It has been proven that that there is a positive correlation between sickness and stress. This is a valid study with registered clinical trials, so this is very exciting indeed. These magic mushrooms cause positive mental health benefits for months and years. This will at least give cancer patients a better quality of life or even really help them out. This is exciting and at least there won’t be a whole debate about the legality of such a medical drug if it does turn out to be helpful and is approved. Excellent story.
