Blog Revamp Updates
As you may have noticed, I’ve updated my personal blog. It now has a more professional look and feel to it. In keeping with the professionalism of the blog, I’ve decided to keep distracting widgets and scripts that run externally off of it for now. So far, it’s working like a charm. I’ve come to enjoy the graphic and aesthetic aspect of the new theme and find it much easier to blog and focus on content, knowing that when I publish, it’ll look awesome. I did make a couple of changes since my last post about changing themes, so I’ll let you know what’s been going on.
- I’ve swapped the location of my cute Twitter bird and my Facebook profile sticker. I decided that I want people to connect with me on Twitter and not pay that much attention to me on Facebook. It’s better that way. Plus, when you come to my blog from Facebook, you are already logged in and connect, which means that the Facebook box will be in the upper right corner: the same place that Facebook sticker was. The bird is cute anyway.
- The blog is now finally fully Retaggr enabled. It was a little buggy the past couple of days. I don’t know if it was on the blog end or if it was a problem on Retaggr’s end. Either way, that’s all sorted out now and I’ve tagged my self in my first ever photo: the one in my “About” column. Please guys, get a Retaggr profile! It’s pretty awesome, and plus, we can connect!
- I’ve upped the number of posts shown on the index page. I feel like just seeing two posts wouldn’t attract people. It’s only a snippet of my content, but I feel like 5 is a good number. I’m still thinking about 3 or 4, but 4 is a bad number and 3 still seems like too little. That’s why I’m going to stick with 5 for the time being.
- Lots of updated sharing options! I’ve made it easy for you to share my content, wherever you want to have it. It’s not often that I write a great post worth sharing with the entire world, but every once in a while I do have one of them. I’ve added a Retaggr “Add Me” button in my footer, ShareThis at the bottom of all of my posts, and I spent some time embedding the sharing icons that you see on the left. I did do them by hand. They weren’t plugins. My next post will cover how I did it and some resources that you guys might find handy when you’re going about doing them.
That’s it for the changes. I’m looking forward to more coming soon, but we’ll see how things go from here.
