US Navy Vessels Collide

Previously, I wrote an article on the French sub versus British sub. Good stuff right? Here is another recently released news flash about colliding aquatic vessels. What’s up with that? I didn’t know that this type of thing happened all the time. Turns out it happens a whole lot more than you would think, evident by this latest development. Alright, here is a brief summary of the flash: You can access the full article here.

The tag line? If you want to know the gist of things, here is a one-liner: Two US Navy vessels collided in the Strait of Hormuz. Details time? Here goes. The two vessels were a nuclear-powered submarine and a amphibious ship. This happened just this morning. 15 sailors aboard the submarine were only slightly injured. What happened? Both ships were were headed to port and headed in the same direction when they collided. The submarine was submerged at the time when it happened. Both ships are headed for repairs now, but the amphibious vessel had a ruptured fuel tank, spilling about 25,000 gallons of fuel. Yes, the submarine was nuclear powered, like all US subs. Just thought this was an interesting bit.
