Hi,
Programs often have a habit of doing that the longer you have it on your computer. Have you tried updating your player or doing a complete uninstall and then re-installing? Usually these two tricks will solve your problem.

hey, i have been using qvod player for 2 years plus alrdy and everything has been perfect.. till now. when i try to download movies, they show in the qvod player that it is streaming but it doesn't start downloading .. when i go back to the website instead of viewing through qvod, it just keeps streaming and refuses to load/download. and can i ask why is it that sometimes my list of movies downloaded in the qvod player automatically clears by itself sometimes?

Aaron,
Does it show the percentage that it has downloaded? It should start downloading the video when you load up the video. Let it go for a while and you should be able to play it. If you're trying to watch from the site, that might be the problem. Try watching it in the player itself by clicking "play" on your browser's player and then the farthest right button that appears when you hover over it.

Andy,

Sorry I'm not much help. I only use Qvod a little bit and yes I'm aware that it uses torrent technology and puts your PC at risk. Do share if you find the answer. Best of luck!

I like the Qvod player except that I think it uses torrent technology and quite often the pc gets infected with virus exploited through a qvod activex security hole.

I want to run qvod using a limited account but I haven't figured out how to make qvod to work with a limited account (I think it must run in the administrator account).

If you know the answer any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Thanks for all of the items, Tyler. I'm familiar with a couple of those programs you mentioned. I use Synergy and uTorrent myself. It appears I forgot to put them on the list. I'll have to check up on the others. Cheers.

I'd just like to add some items to your list you may want to check out:

-VLC Media Player: plays pretty much every video format right out of the box, and it has a small, clean interface. And it's open-source.

-Auctual Windows Menu: a low cost utility that adds a ton of options to windows menus: set application priority, make windows translucent, change the way they are minimized, etc.

-Synergy: A soft-KVM swtich, I use this to control my laptop from my desktop keyboard (or vise versa). It's open-source which is good, but it doesn't provide all the features of MaxiVista.

-OpenSSH + RendezvousProxy + putty: used to share an iTunes library over the Internet (like you can over a LAN). Install the OpenSSH server on you home computer and RendezvousProxy and putty on the remote computer. Open an SSH connection from the remote computer using putty with the iTunes sharing port 3689 tunneled through localhost. Then configure RendezvousProxy with the _daap._tcp (iTunes Host) using localhost as the IP address. Now when you open iTunes you'll be able to access the shared library. TCP 3689 and UDP 5353 will have to be open on your home computer.

-GrabIt: A news-reader. (newzleech and binsearch are good newsgroups search engines)

-uTorrent: A very small bit torrent client.

-DAEMON Tools: ISO image mounter. Lite version is free and does most of what you'll need.

-7-Zip: An open-source alternative to Winzip and WinRAR.

-Medieval CUE Splitter: free utility to split long MP3's (like trance sets or other live shows) into individual songs.

-TagScanner: free utility to fix the tags on MP3's before importing them into iTunes.

-Winamp: it's still a pretty decent player, and it will play songs from a sync'd iPod, which iTunes won't do. Base version is still free, too!

-2BrightSparks' SyncBack: a free utility to back up selected files.

-ntbackup.exe: a good utility included in Windows XP that you can use to make backup images of you system.
