Hulu’s Birthday!

It was Hulu’s first birthday March 12th, 2009. According to Hulu’s Blog, Hulu “exited beta and was made broadly available in the US” at 1:46 PM a year ago from that date. So that would be 1:46 PM March 12th, 2008. Can you believe it? It’s been 365 days of Hulu’s existence out of beta and it’s been with me through thick and thin. From my experience with Hulu, since January 13th 2008 and it has served me well since then. Those of you who’ve been through my blog or have read these imported notes through Facebook know that I’ve been a big fan and I talk about Hulu a whole bunch. For some people, food gets them through tough times, for others it is intense exercize. For me, it’s Hulu and lots of funny videos when I’m not working. Thank you Hulu, for the good times. To see what Hulu has to say about their birthday, definitely go to their blog.

Oh and they’ve recently added new content and will continue to add content every day up to March 20th in celebration of it’s success, birthday, and all of it’s loving fans. Hoorah for Hulu! You can follow the updates here on their fan appreciation page. On top of that, since my last post about Hulu, they’ve added a new feature and I’m loving it, even though it turns out I don’t have very many friends who use Hulu. Either that or I just can’t find them. If you’re my friend and haven’t visited Hulu, please do! To learn about the new friends feature of Hulu, visit the official page. I’ll briefly summarize in the paragraph below. Hold on tight folks!

Alright, Hulu is now kind of becoming more of a social video watching site now with the addition of friends. You could already comment on videos and see comments other users made, but now you can connect to friends on Hulu , allowing integration of Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Facebook, and Myspace so you can find your friends on Hulu. You can now search for friends and send them invites and then add them to your profile while you’re at it. You can also write messages on your profile or on their profile. What do you think? I think it’s pretty awesome. I’m already sharing my favorite videos on Facebook and I’m looking forward to having friends on Hulu. Thanks and happy belated birthday!
