weekend of eats aesthetics

I had a heck of a weekend this time around. Let’s start with Friday night. I went over to Jack London Square for the Eat Real Festival. It was my second go, after having went a few years before. The last time I went, it was during the day and the sun was blazing. It was super crowded and the lines were way too long for my liking. This time around, we arrived during the later hours of the day, pretty much during golden hour and it was epic. It made for some great pictures of food. I only wish I had taken a few more pictures, but I’m sorry – I was too busy stuffing my face.

We tried a couple of places and even went back on Sunday! Among the places we tried: Hella Vegan Eats, NoNo Burger, Baia Pasta, Bicycle Banh Mi, andย Fat Face Popsicles. We were pretty bummed out on Sunday because we didn’t get to try Hodosoy, but we will return!

We also visited a few places: Shangri-La Vegan, Curbside Creamery, and Arbor Cafe. All in all, a beautiful weekend. The last weekend of the summer and I spent it eating great food with beautiful company.

Oh and side note, I’ve also included a few pictures of Ampersand SF! An amazing shop. I’ll definitely be back for something and to just hang out there.

Wow, you certainly did manage to cover a whole lot of ground for a single reason! That impressive list of eats might even eclipse my own, and I had two months to taste the bay area. Did you have any standout favorites from this bunch?

    • I did! My friend and I ended up going TWICE to Eat Real Fest that weekend for an all-out smorgasbord of vegan eats. My absolute favorite was the shiitake fried rice seitan slider with the homemade kimchi courtesy of S+M Vegan. It was substantial, but also vibrant and light thanks to that kimchi. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it…Check them out http://www.snmvegan.com and I highly recommend coming out the Eat Real next year ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe we’ll run into each other!

What about you? Did you have any standouts during your two months? I saw your Gracias Madre post..LOVE THAT PLACE and I’ll make sure to try the coconut ceviche because it sounds so refreshing.

I did hear great things about S+M Vegan but never got a chance to investigate. Okay, that’s going on my list for next trip. Luckily, I will be returning to the bay area for my spring semester, so I’m already working up a list of places to eat. ๐Ÿ™‚

There are just so many places I loved, it’s hard to say… But I’m also working on a post (probably going to be posts a while down the road still) about my experiences at Saha. Truly amazing, one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. If you haven’t been yet, you must go soon!

        • The folks at S+M Vegan are super nice and their food rocked. Sometimes I go to sleep at night dreaming of sliders >.<

As a side note: I made it back to Gracias Madre and, as always, the food is delicious and refreshing. I'll be keeping my eyes open for your post. Please share everything!
