Sbarro!

Alright, sure. Pizza is delicious, especially gourmet pizzas, but what about chain restaurants that serve Italian food? I have no problem with pizza from places like Dominos, Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, and the like. They’re delicious and yummylicious. Oily, yes, but filling and usually very cheesy. One of my first experiences with Italian (fast food, that is) was with Sbarro. The neighborhood Sbarro near my house in San Francisco was near the Stonestown shopping mall. Sbarro offers a wide variety of pizza, pastas, salads, breadsticks, and various entrees.

Sbarro LogoI haven’t had Sbarro in a while, so when I went to have lunch over at Arden Fair in Sacramento, I had to go get some Sbarro. I couldn’t resist! I could smell the delicious smells of pizza wafting through the food court. After taking a look at their selection, I decided on going with the stuffed pepperoni and sausage pizza with a side order of their bread sticks. I haven’t had their pastas in a while, but that will have to wait for another day.

Stuffed PizzaTheir garlic bread sticks were wonderfully seasoned: not too salty and not too sweet (a perfect combination). Although I knew it was probably an unhealthy choice, I just had to have it. The order had two breadsticks (both of which were pretty large). One of them had a nice helping of melted cheese on top. I think the cheese may have been an accidental addition, but it went quite nicely with it. I opted for no sauce for dipping, but it was good without.

breadstickSbarro, Sbarro, Sbarro: delicious pizzas. The stuffed pepperoni and sausage really hit the spot and the sausage was seasoned just right. Props to the dude who heated my bread sticks and pizza up: they were perfect. Not cold at all. As far as Sbarro goes I give it a B+.
